45 days of opera, drama and concerts at 14 venues – that is the Salzburg Festival. Audi has supported this world-famous festival as the main sponsor for two decades now, promoting both its long-term planning and artistic freedom. The partnership began in 1994 with a guest performance of the Salzburg Festival in Ingolstadt. Tonight, the performers from Salzburg will once again strike the final chord for the Audi Summer Concerts of 2014.

A total of 30,000 spectators are expected when the historic rallying scene convenes in Daun from tomorrow for the Eifel Rallye Festival (July 24 – 26, 2014). Daun is the German mecca for anyone who was a fan of rallying during its glory days in the 1970s and 1980s. One of the highlights this year will be Audi Tradition’s appearance at the event. AUDI AG’s heritage department will be in attendance with rally icons Stig Blomqvist and Harald Demuth and is bringing an Audi Rallye quattro A2 and an Audi Sport quattro, both 1984 Cars of the Year. In collaboration with the U.S. firm Joule, Audi is taking a fundamentally new approach to the diesel fuel of the future. The biotech company, founded in 2007 and based in Bedford, Massachusetts, is working on producing synthetic fuels – Audi e-diesel and Audi e-ethanol – with the help of special microorganisms. They are virtually climate-neutral, as they only release as much CO2 during combustion as was bound during production. According to current projections, a car operated on Audi e-diesel will achieve a good carbon footprint similar to that of a battery-electric car using electricity produced from renewable sources. Audi considers racing to be the ideal test bench for production, and the toughest testing lab of all is the 24 Hours of Le Mans. 2006 was the first time that Audi entered a car powered by a TDI engine. Audi has celebrated 13 overall victories in 15 starts, eight of them with TDI engines. This includes a 1-2 finish on June 15. The same requirements apply to the sport prototypes at Le Mans and in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) as to production cars: to always get more and more out of every drop of fuel, to increase efficiency and at the same time continuously reduce consumption even further. The term “Audi ultra” is reserved for the most fuel-efficient model of each model series. It represents not just full everyday practicality, but also sustainable mobility. Audi currently offers a total of 23 ultra models in the A3, A4, A5, A6 and A7 model series, 15 of which are equipped with TDI engines. With an average fuel consumption of 3.2 to 4.9 liters per 100 kilometers (48.0 to 73.5 US mpg) and CO2 emissions of 85 to 122 grams per kilometer (136.8 to 196.3 g/mi), the ultra models from Audi are among the most efficient cars of their respective classes – without compromising driving dynamics or comfort.
