Here’s a theme you don’t see on an Audi R8 every day. A firm named raum22 endeavored to show off the flexibility of vinyl wraps using a nicely modified R8 as a base. Unlike many wrap “show cars” this one actually sports a healthy dose of tasteful upgrades, though we suspect it’ll be the new skin that grabs most of the attention. Depending on who you ask, cars with automated or piloted driving is either a hot new technology that’s either just down the road, or perhaps already arrived. Google made big news when it sent out a group of driverless Toyota Prii in a grand experiment and plans oval-shaped controlless cars in just a few short years, while Audi and partners at the Volkswagen Group and Stanford University have been tackling places like Pike’s Peak with a driverless TT. Now, it seems there’s a Silicon Valley-based startup named Cruise who aims to beat them to the punch with their new bolt-on automated driving unit currently tailored specifically for certain Audi vehicles.
