It used to be that rivet flares were for old Datsun Skylines or Z-cars, though that’s clearly changed over the last few years. Rauh Welt’s use of wide rivet flares on Porsche 911s rocketed the look back into the style spotlight, while firms like Liberty Walk have maybe taken them even more mainstream, at least in terms of modern cars. That all said, we’ve yet to see the look applied to a modern Audi… that was until we laid eyes on this render by the automotive photography website More…

A few weeks ago someone alerted us to a photo posted by a fan on the Audi Deutschland fan page on Facebook. That car showed what looked like a Sepang Blue Audi S3 with a lot of testing equipment affixed. Just what Audi might be testing on the already out-there S3 sedan can there can be little doubt. To our eye, this meant either an S3 plus with the high-output 2.0 TFSI engine or perhaps a sedan version of the RS 3.

Audi A4 B9 Render DesignRM 2821 600x300 photo

There’s no doubt that the upcoming B9-generation Audi A4 is hotly anticipated. One of the first to arrive on Audi’s all-new MLB-evo platform, the car is sure to be lighter, faster and all-round better than any A4 before it. Likely it will also mark one of Audi’s first cars designed heavily under the brand’s latest design director Marc Lichte. So what will it look like? DesignRM has taken a guess with these latest renders. More…

Audi R8 Test Mule spoiler 715 600x300 photo

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a harder core Audi R8 test mule out and about. However, previous cars we’d dubbed “Bigfoot” for their widened tracks and extended fenders had a bit of a different look to them than the car that’s turned up this week. This time around, the track appears to be identical to the current R8, though it sports significantly changed lower aero in the form of a body kit with side skirts, and also a really large and extended trunk-mounted spoiler. Today Audi builds about 50 different model derivatives, though fully intends to expand that number to 60 by the end of this decade. One expected point of expansion is the TT model family – today just coupe and Roadster, but a third model is expected soon. All of the recent TT concepts explore that eventuality, but none so elegantly as the new TT Sportback. More…

There’d been a rumor running that Audi will show a TT-based concept car. We theorized that it was likely a Sportback last week, and that much is true. Interestingly though, new pre-release drawings from the Audi Design Team appear to confirm the car will be more in the line of the A7 Sportback than it will Avant-like form we’d run with the story.

Audi A9 Render 600x300 photo

The game is afoot for the L.A. Auto Show. Sources at Audi of America have been telling us for several weeks that we should skip the usual plan to have contributors shoot the November motor show and attend it ourselves. Various rumors in the press have suggested an A9-focused concept car from Audi will move the event’s status from bridesmaid to bride, and Greg Kable seems to solidify that line of thinking with a new drawing and intel story published over on Autocar’s website.

Virtually any Audi enthusiast knows that this past weekend was the WEC 6 Hours of Austin at Circuit of the Americas and that the Audi Sport squad of R18s took a 1-2 victory. Perhaps slightly less known is that this weekend also marked the 30th anniversary of the Audi Club of North America. Part of that celebration was a dinner reception in the Austin area attended by the likes of Allan McNish, John Hindhaugh and Audi of America President Scott Keogh. There was a lot to love about the evening, in particular three things said by Scott Keogh during his presentation.

By far, one of our favorite render artists is Larson. A regular source for major magazines like Autobild, Larson studied design with many designers key today in brand design studios like that of Audi. We’re always fascinated with his work, and this render previewing Audi’s upcoming Q6 sports crossover falls into that space.
