We first encountered designer Peter Stevens on Facebook earlier this month. We learned that longtime automotive designer was once involved with an Audi Le Mans project that pre-dated that of the R8R LMP1. At the time, Audi was exploring both the building of a supercar and the entry into Le Mans style sports car racing. Audi Teases Second TT-Based Shooting Brake Style Concept with 4-Doors ahead of Beijing

Audi has revealed design drawings of an upcoming concept car (or perhaps crossover) ahead of the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. Just three drawings were revealed, though it’s not hard to infer front these drawings that the car is based on the TT, a 5-door configuration and likely an extension of the idea behind the allroad shooting brake concept shown in Detroit in January.

Italian Design House Bertone Confirms Bankruptcy, Seeks Buyer

The storied Italian design house Bertone has confirmed that it has filed for bankruptcy. Mounting debt for the Turin-based firm has caused the company to lay off most of its employees and, according to a report from TopGear, it has until April to find a buyer or risk being sold off by an Italian court.

You can thank 1970s Datsuns, or more recently Rau Welt 911s, for the exposed fastener flared awesomeness that seems to be taking the modified car world by storm as of late. Some of the coolest cars at SEMA this year were built by Liberty Walk, a firm that applied the look to Italian exoticars with mind-blowing effect. And, while there’s no Lamborghini Huracan yet on the market for such firms to flare, that hasn’t stopped independent designers like Luca Polizzotto for envisioning what may come.

Personnel Changes at Audi Design

Wolfgang Egger (50), Head of Design at Audi since May 2007, is to move to the Audi subsidiary Italdesign Giugiaro S.p.A. as Styling Director with effect as of February 1, 2014. His successor at Audi will be Marc Lichte (44), who is currently in charge of Exterior Design for the Volkswagen brand.

We’re hearing rumors out of various foreign publications, notably AutoBild and Reuters, that Audi brand design boss Wolfgang Egger will leave his post at Audi at the end of the year. He’ll be replaced, say reports, with a senior Volkswagen brand designer Marc Lichte.

Audi’s presence at Design Miami/ from December 3rd to 8th will be dominated by Audi Sport and will feature two of its sportiest models: the production model R8 Spyder and the R8 LMS ultra for customer racing. The Audi sculpture entitled “Fragmentation” serves as the backdrop. This three-dimensional installation plays with the red rhombus, the symbol of Audi Sport.
