As mentioned, we happened to be at last weekend’s Porsche Club of America swapmeet in Hershey, PA last weekend and followed our usual ritual of spotting cool Audis that are quite common in the parking lot of this German car enthusiast-rich event. While doing so we stumbled across this interesting blue R8 V8 coupe most obviously custom tailored by Audi Exclusive. More…
It’s not like RS2 Avants are unheard of in America. We’ve seen them before, from a mysterious pearl white example registered in western Pennsylvania to one or two that have made their way into Canada. Even still, these ur-RS cars from Audi that were actually built and apparently stylized by Porsche (not quattro GmbH) were never sold in America. They’re also not on the NHTSA list of importable vehicles either, which makes them damn near unobtainium. So, when one shows up as one did before our eyes this past weekend at a Porsche Club Swapmeet in Pennsylvania, it was a newsworthy event. More…
Earlier this week we published an initial report from the reveal of the Audi A3 and S3 sedan reveals at New York’s Chelsea Piers. Audi chose this week to pull the covers from the car in the Big Apple largely due to the timing coinciding with the opening of the New York Auto Show. Unfortunately for those attending the event at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, these new offerings weren’t on display. Even still, that didn’t stop Audi from loading out their stand with many new models to see and enjoy. More…
We bid adieu to Southern Soul Barbecue in St. Simon’s, GA and got back on I-95 headed North. Back on the interestate, we’d lost one MPG off of our average. Still, the rest of the trip would likely be highway so recovery was expected. Diversions from here on in would be close to the highway and kept to a minimum. More…
As mentioned when we began this journey, this isn’t a hyper-miling exercise. Even still, everyone here and likely following along wants to see just what the A8 TDI can do. Thus far, we’re over 36 MPG and have logged that on the worse parts of the trip – nearly two hours of redlight-fitted four lane [...] More…
With another Sebring victory in the bag for Audi Sport, it’s time to pack up and head home. In order to make the migration north, we’ve commandeered one of four 2013 Audi A8 3.0 TDIs in America (available at your dealer soon) and are bound for Audi of America HQ in Herndon, VA and then [...] More…
Call us production nerds, but it is cars like this Sepang Blue RS 4 Avant that keep us returning to something as mundane as a parking garage whenever we visit one of Audi’s main factories. You see, the brand of the four rings is fond of experimenting with color and trim on their coolest cars. [...] More…
Sponsorship of skiing is a core component in Audi’s sports marketing program and the FIS Ski World Championships in Schladming are a bit part of that presence. As the world’s top skiers came to compete, Audi was front and center with its Home of quattro display, and stars on that stand were the RS 4 [...] More…
Back in September, while attending the Audi Future Lab Mobility conference in Munich, we had a chance to take a surprisingly close look at the Audi R18 e-tron quattro. On display that day at a downtown warehouse was the cutaway chassis you see here – with #1 livery and a faux Dindo Capello driver. More…
It’s already well-known that a new Audi RS 4 owned by Audi of America’s product planning department set the blogosphere atwitter and enthusiast hearts aflutter when it showed up at Cars & Coffee in Great Falls, Virginia last weekend. It seems everyone since has been speculating about the likelihood of the model’s official arrival in [...] More…
En route to the Paris Motor Show, we stopped off for a visit to Ingolstadt. While you can sometimes spot a preproduction test mule (like a facelifted R8 Spyder test mule we caught back in July) on the less trafficked areas around Audi’s worldwide HQ, we find there’s often plenty for the sharp eyed aficionado even within the more public and tourist-oriented side by the Audi Forum Ingolstadt. Our last On Location feature from last week’s trip to Germany focuses on the Audi Forum Neckarsulm. About three two hours’ drive from Ingolstadt, Neckarsulm is Audi’s other main outpost in Germany and houses key facilities such as production facilities, the lightweight design center, Audi Sport and the Audi Forum Neckarsulm to name a few. Of course most unannounced visitors won’t get beyond the gate and we were no exception. Still, in addition to spotting the facelifted R8 Spyder on which we reported on Friday, we also visited the Audi Forum Neckarsulm that includes quattro GmbH’s Audi Exclusive showroom and a small museum with a major DTM display.
