If it’s another week, then it must be another set of alloy wheels for our Project RS 7 from TAG Motorsport. Since this matte Daytona Grey operates as lead demonstrator for the San Diego-based Audi tuning firm, it’s blessed with more than your average wheels and tire upgrade… way more. This time around, the fresh alloy comes from ADV.1.
As a wheel manufacturer, Miami-based wheel manufacturer began business in 2009. Just six years later, the brand is distributed in more than 40 countries, maintaining its design offices in Miami but performs production in Los Angeles. With aggressive design and highly tailored fitment, ADV.1 was a natural addition to this RS 7’s burgeoning collection of shoes.
Even amongst the eye-catching range of wheels from ADV.1, the CS series is a particular favorite. Made of lightweight forged aluminum, the wheel features a stepped inner lip, 2-piece forged “mono center”. And, while it can feature hidden hardware, TAG decided to opt for the more technical looking exposed fastener configuration.
For sizing, TAG went again with the 21-inch diameter. Though that’s the same as stock, it’s also quite aggressive. There’s no need to go bigger, especially with 275-3-21 series Dunlop Sport MAXX tires, and the look may be one of the most aggressive yet in this car’s growing wheel portfolio.
As you may recall, this car also benefits from a lower suspicion thanks to an H&R lowering module. The light weight and exotic titanium and carbon fiber exhaust from Akrapovic adds killer sound and appearance improvements, while other subtle changes such as an Abt Sportsline carbon lip spoiler and color-matched reflector package finalize the look.
Since completing that first round of modifications, TAG’s been fitting new wheel sets on virtually a weekly basis. And, while that’s been fun to watch, word from TAG’s own Alex Andonian is that they’ve begun to do a few other changes to the car that’ll make for an even more custom look – beyond the wheels, which we have no doubt they’ll also be expanding upon.
