Audi Australia Extends Film Sponsorship With Unique Sydney-Based Drive–In Concept
posted by Audi Australia on 25 September 2012 in Audi News
- Audi to present Downtown Drive-in theatre nights
- Concept cements Audi’s commitment to film through sponsorships
- Secret location of Drive-in to be revealed prior to screening
Audi is re-igniting the lost world of the drive-in theatre, but not as you know it.
Dubbed the ‘Downtown Drive-in’, the concept will inhabit an inner-city space that will surprise Sydneysiders when it opens in November.
Downtown Drive-In will run from November 29 to December 1 at a central location, within three kilometres of the CBD. A playful choice of films will create a themed three-night season: a new release, a sentimental favourite and a lost cinephile’s treat.
Audi will supply a range of luxury cars for the ultimate drive-in experience, featuring razor-sharp digital sound and priority placement – with Audi’s audio partner Bang & Olufsen, whose state-of-the-art sound systems will also feature throughout the venue.
Designed with genuine enthusiasts in mind, Downtown Drive-in will open up interesting corners of film, and of Sydney. Each screening will feature cinema-quality projection in an under-cover industrial suitable for all weather conditions.
Audi’s sponsorship of film has been a major focus in 2012. Following the support of this year’s Sydney Film Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival and the upcoming Brisbane International Film Festival, along with our partnership with two of Sydney’s major film stars – Naomi Watts and Hugh Jackman.
The Audi brand has also been involved in the film industry for many years – from the early days of the old-school, edge-of-the-seat car chases like the legendary Ronin, to Mission Impossible, the Transporter films, I Robot, About a Boy and even Iron Man.
Entry prices are set at $50 per vehicle. No wheels? Don’t fret – standard seating is available near the screen, at only $25 per person.
Stay tuned for the announcement of the surprise venue, the season theme, film schedule, and our unique food and drink partners.
