Audi Halts Production at Neckarsulm Plant Because of Flooding

It was an extremely wet weekend in Germany, with rains nearly stopping the Nurburgring 24H race and halting production Audi’s Neckarsulm plant in southwest Germany.

Neckarsulm builds the A4, A5, A6, A7, and A8 as well as the R8 and the RS line. The plant employs 16,000 and, last year, built 272,103 vehicles.

A spokeswoman for Audi says that parts of the factory have been flooded following a downpour last night. Production will resume on today’s late shift.

Tragically, four people have been killed in the floods in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, where Neckarsulm is located.
