Take a close look at the shot above or the high-res over on Flickr and you’ll see that the Daytona Grey Matte paint is not the only special detail work on this first car displayed in Monaco last weekend. It also sports what looks like a carbon optics package that includes carbon fiber chin splitter, outer brake duct slats and that optional lower center grille insert with ‘quattro’ script. Look above and the mirrors are made of carbon, something thus far only seen on TT and R8 models, and there’s also a carbon fiber rear splitter visible in another shot housed on Flickr.
When the Audi A3 Concept sedan was shown in Geneva, it also wore plenty of carbon fiber trim similar to this RS 6. At the time, Audi design boss Wolfgang Egger suggested that this was a new direction he’d like to go with RS models – much more liberal use of the ultra lightweight and ultra cool material. This RS 6 certainly confirms that Egger’s wish has come to fruition.
