HERNDON, Virginia- The first Sacramento AltCar Ride & Drive Expo on Monday will feature the new Audi A3 Sportback e-tron. The hybrid will be plugged into an EV ARC solar-charging station, which will provide all the power the e-tron needs to show off its state-of-the-art credentials.
The expo, sponsored by the Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition, will unfold on and in front of the west steps of California’s capitol building. The event will offer everyone from fleet buyers to the general public looks at a collection of alternative-energy vehicles in various size segments, along with infrastructure displays and demonstrations. Product specialists and other experts will be available to answer questions.
Niello Audi in Sacramento is providing the A3 Sportback e-tron, and Envision Solar International of San Diego is supplying an EV ARC charging station that is powered only by sunlight. The patented device is the world’s only transportable solar-powered EV-charging station, delivering up to 150 e-miles daily while charging up to three vehicles at a time. Equipped with energy storage in onboard batteries, EV ARC will charge cars day or night, and during a blackout or other grid failure. And it can easily be moved to another location within minutes.
On Monday, EV ARC will be charging one of the most important new products from Audi. A3 Sportback e-tron delivers a combined 204 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque between the 1.4-liter TFSI engine and the liquid-cooled, permanent-magnet-driven electric motor.
The new A3 Sportback e-tron posted sales of 321 vehicles in April and 1,228 vehicles year to date. Since its debut in January, the model has contributed to the string of 64 consecutive months of year-over-year sales gains enjoyed by Audi in the U.S. market.
