New Yorkers may recall that the Audi-only app-based car rental company Silvercar set up temporary pop-up shop last summer. Still called the ‘Easy Out’, this time around you can get an A4 for $79 per weekday or $129 on the weekends. The program began Sept 28 and will run through the end of 2015.
What’s different? Well, besides a slightly higher price, the pick up location has also changed from the McCarren Hotel and is now at the Silver Towers building at 600 West 42nd Street. Otherwise, the experience is pretty much the same – book and unlock via the brand’s smart phone app and, unique to New York, contacting the personal concierge in order to prep them for the driver’s arrival. No doubt the latter is due to the time it likely takes to move the car from a Manhattan parking spot where it is stored to the Silver Towers pick up point.
No doubt Silvercar has ideas of Manhattanites out visiting the country, experiencing fall foliage, picking apples or whatever else New Yorkers might do on a weekend getaway in an Audi. To emphasize this, the company has even paired with The Arnold House, a small inn located in the Catskills. The inn has created a driving tour meant to help guests discover some of the most impressive fall foliage spots between Manhattan and Shandalee Mountain located near the hotel in Livingston Manor, NY.
