Not content with Audi’s already powerful 2.5 TFSI, OETTINGER has released an optimized version of the RS 3 with an extremely impressive 520hp on tap. By modifying the turbocharger, intake routing, and exhaust system, OETTINGER says that their car will do 0-62mph in the neighborhood of 3.3 seconds, depending on wheel and tire choice. But for those who aren’t quite content with just 520hp, OETTINGER’s got them covered as well.
Opt for OETTINGER’s most aggressive setup, and the tuning firm will fit forged pistons with steel con rods, an upgraded intercooler, a new thermostat, and a host of other modifications, all collaborating to make an incredible 750hp and 664 lb/ft of torque. Unfortunately information on this particular setup is quite limited, but something tells us the OETTINGER would be happy to tell you all about it, should you send them an email or pick up the phone.
Those interested in getting out ahead of their RS 3 order here in the US (or looking for any other OETTINGER products) can contact OETTINGER North America directly for pricing inquiries, here.
- Modified 2.5 litre TFSI five cylinder power unit is available in four stages
- 520 HP version strides to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3½ seconds and breaks the 200 km/h (124 mph) barrier in 11½ seconds
The optimisation of five cylinder 2.5 litre TFSI engines has always been a particularly emotional project for the engineers and technicians at OETTINGER. The brute force with which the power unit develops its power, together with the infernal sound always manages to thrill engineers and technology enthusiasts – amongst others in the OETTINGER Golf 500 R, and now in the OETTINGER RS3 on the basis of the Audi RS3 (8V).
The telephone lines to Friedrichsdorf are already beginning to run hot! In particular the modified 2.5 TFSI with 520 HP / 680 Nm (501½ lb/ft) has demonstrated itself to be a sales hit for the RS3. OETTINGER modifies the series turbocharger, improves the routing of the intake and equips the RS3 with a sport filter. In addition the engineers have optimised the engine management mappings and honed these on the companies own test stand. Optionally OETTINGER offers the conversion to forged pistons with steel connecting rods. A high performance intercooler, a 90 mm (3½”) intake and a modified thermostat will become available in a few weeks.
The OETTINGER RS3 with 520 HP and 680 Nm (501½ lb/ft) promises pure driving entertainment – that is over 150 HP and 210 Nm (155 lb/ft) more than the series. Depending on the wheels and tyres the projectile shoots in between 3.3 and 3.5 seconds to 100 km/h (62 mph) and proves to be extremely elastic. And so the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark is already passed in 11.5 seconds. Due to the removal of the Vmax limiter the top speed climbs to 310 km/h. For comparison: A series RS3 requires 4.3 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) and is electronically restricted to approx. 250 km/h (155 mph).
If required, OETTINGER can also cater for the appropriate sporty acoustic. The exhaust valve control provides more sound with a permanently open valve in the dynamic mode. Depending on the down pipe version, the conversion to 520 HP costs between 8 925 and 10 390 Euro plus installation, which is offered by OETTINGER in Friedrichsdorf.
The renowned tuner from Friedrichsdorf offers the modified five cylinder for the Audi RS3 (Model: 8V; Engine identification: CZGB) in four stages. Beside the pure optimisation of the engine management for the 2.5 TFSI (Series: 367 HP – 465 Nm / 343 lb/ft) to 430 HP – 625 Nm / 461 lb/ft, OETTINGER offers, amongst others engine conversions to 520 HP / 680 Nm (501½ lb/ft) and 650 HP / 750 Nm (553 lb/ft). The spearhead produces a brutal 750 HP / 900 Nm (664 lb/ft).
