When it comes to shoes, it would be fair to compare our Project RS 7 from TAG Motorsports with the plight of Imelda Marcos. You see, the car has more wheels/shoes than occasions for which to wear them, but that’s just the way TAG Motorsports likes it.
You see, Project RS 7 isn’t simply a case of your typical owner buying and customizing his or her new Audi RS 7. No, it goes much further than that, since this RS 7 is also part of the in-house fleet at TAG Motorsports. As such, it gets to try on all the latest and greatest (wheels in particular), so that those considering such modifications can see what various setups look like before placing a purchase.
For this third set of new wheels, not counting stock hardware, TAG has returned to their San Diego neighbor HRE wheels. This time they’ve fitted the California firm’s P103 to rather stunning results.
Part of HRE’s P1 design family, the P103 is a forged monoblok design featuring conical profile, aerospace grade 6061-T6 forged aluminum. This particular design comes in a 15-spoke design that bestows an elegant demeanor on the RS 7 while also harkening ever-so-slightly to the Ronal wheels that made those first Audi quattro models famous, or the OZ racing wheels that Audi employed from the touring car era on up to those first Audi R18 models.
For Project RS 7, TAG Motorsports went with a 21-inch diameter. The wheels are finished HRE’s unique Brushed Dark Clear look, accenting well with the car’s Daytona Grey matte paint.
The wheels roll again on Dunlop Sport MAXX Tires.
