German tuning house Rieger has launched another body kit / appearance package for a new Audi and this time they’ve focused on the A3. Known more for wilder ground effects packages in the past, Rieger’s more recent applications seem to be adopting more of an OE+ appearance package and this line for the new MQB A3 embraces that philosophy.
The kit consists, from front to back, of a rear DTM-splitter look rear valance also available in carbon fiber look, sideskirts, and two different front chin designs. The first, and likely more affordable, is a chin extension that retains the original A3 front bumper and intake design. There is a second chin design and here’s where things get more interesting.
This second design follows the lead set up by the firm’s A5/S5 application and mimics the chin design of the current-generation RS 5 and TT RS models. That same frowning maw is a very familiar design to Audi fans and even loks to possibly use lower intake moldings from the RS 5 or TT RS although this remains unconfirmed at the time this story was written.
As most fans know, the new A3 (a.k.a. Type 8V) is only just out on the market in Europe, with S3 and Sportback versions having now been introduced as well. A sedan and notchback Cabriolet are also due as is an RS 3, though those looking to build their own RS-looking A3 may be able to do that already thanks to Rieger.
This story layout contains photos of the RS-look package from Rieger. More photos of this kit as well as the more conservative version retaining the stock A3’s front bumper design can be seen in our photo gallery linked below and to the right.
