Audi will be the best-represented brand during this year’s ADAC GT Masters series with 10 R8 LMSs set to race for the podium.
The 10 R8s will be raced by six teams and among the 10 drivers there will be six Audi Sport drivers. Among them is Rene Rast, Christopher Mies, Christopher Haase, and more.
Three of the teams are racing in the ADAC GT Masters for the first time ever. Team Montaplast, meanwhile, will be fielding two R8s in its quest to defend its ADAC championship.
“Audi is represented the strongest out of all seven participating brands on a grid of 32 racing cars. Almost a third of the field are R8 LMS cars,” said Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing, in a statement. “We are expecting a similarly tough title fight like last year, and we are eager to see whether the newcomers and junior drivers can hold their own with the established racers.”
The ADAC GT Masters series isn’t the only series in which the R8 is popular. Just this week, Audi Sport delivered its 200th R8 LMS to a customer racing team.
The six teams racing in the ADAC GT Masters series are Montaplast by Land-Sport, with two cars; Aust Motorsport, with two cars, Audi Sport racing academy, with two cars; BWT Mucke Motorsport, with two cars; and Twin Busch Motorsports and Yaco racing, each with one car each.
