Spy photographers have caught the next Audi A5 Cabriolet in test mule form for the first time on public roads yesterday. While the car was disguised in the usual phunkadelic camo wrap, details of the new car are clear for all stop see.
As with the A4 sedan already revealed, the new A5 will be part of the B9 generation, running on the latest MLB evo platform architecture matrix. Given it’s the latest tech, this means more liberal applications of high-strength steel, aluminum and even CFRP carbon composite. Given the mix of materials, we’re expecting the car to drop some 200-250 lbs.
If the outgoing Roadster is an indicator, fans can expect S5 and even RS 5 versions of Audi’s drop-top 2-door. Expect to see it in market sometime in late 2016 or early 2017.
