2012 Frank Beddor National Event: New Dates Announced
Due to a forced cancellation as a result of forest fires, the Pikes Peak Race is now re-scheduled to August 9-12, 2012. The Audi Club NA Board and Rocky Mountain Board discussed the situation this morning. The decision was made to reschedule the Frank Beddor National event to coincide with the rescheduling of the Pikes Peak Race later this summer.
Audi Club North America will hold the Frank Beddor National event in Colorado Springs, and hope that everyone will be able to join us. As soon as the new date for Pikes Peak is announced, we will notify members.
All VIP tickets that were sold will be honored for the later date. Please remember to cancel your hotel rooms at the Cheyenne Lodge at 719.538.4000.
Further updates can be obtained by calling the National Office at 262-567-5476.
Bobby Unser to Attend Frank Beddor National Event, Walter Rohrl Unable to Attend
Mention the name Bobby Unser to the average person, and winning auto races instantly comes to mind. Unser, the older of the two famous racing brothers, established the family legend many years ago by capturing his first Indy 500 in 1968, 1975, & 1981. (Listen to Winning Pikes Peak Bobby Unser interview.)
Unser has compiled one of the most impressive lists of accomplishments in American racing history. Among Unser’s marks include: the first driver to record a 200 mph qualifying average speed in Indy car competition, 35 career Indy car wins, 49 Indy car pole positions, eight 500-mile Indy car victories, winnings over $2.6 million, 4 International Race of Champions (IROC) wins, a record of 13 Pikes Peak Hill Climb wins.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Audi AG has just announced that Walter Rohrl is unable to attend. Members will have the opportunity to meet Bobby Unser who is also guest speaker at the Saturday evening banquet.
Audi Club North America and the Rocky Mountain chapter are looking forward to a GREAT National Event! See you there!
