Ask anyone who’s been and they’ll tell you with authority that the Goodwood Festival of Speed should be on any car enthusiast’s bucket list. Alas, it remains on ours as well since we’ve yet to get over for the event. Thanks though to several photographic sources, we’re able to take you there in pictures.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is aptly named. A celebration of all forms of transportation, the highlight is the focus on racecars and exotics as they hammer up “the hill” at the vast Goodwood estate. One of many events held each year at the event and of several devoted to the automobile, this is the big one… the main one… the one that attracts everybody who is anybody in racing. Not surprisingly, Audi Tradition and Audi Sport are always quick to take part.
Of course, Audi celebrates at the Festival in many ways. Highlights included the Audi prologue concept, the presence of the new Audi R8, RS 3 Sportback, Q7 e-tron quattro, a Home of quattro off-road course with Q-models, new R8 in the supercar hillclimb, the #7 Audi R18 e-tron quattro with Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer and Oliver Jarvis, the Sport quattro S1 driven by Hannu Mikkola and the 1939 Auto Union Type D twin supercharger driven by Pink Floyd drummer and friend-of-Audi Nick Mason.
With the vast breadth of the event, there were plenty of other highlights as well. Valentino Rossi drove his motorcycle into the Goodwood main house, Ken Block drifted the Hoonicorn up the hill, Singer debuted their first Targa-bodied 911, and many, many more.
Though we weren’t there, we’ve amassed a mix of photos from various sources including Audi, the press and even Kee-Online.co.uk, an agency that works with dealerships and managed to snap a few shots of the Audi corporate display that includes this stunning Nardo Grey and orange accented R8 V10 plus.
