Alas, the all things VAG festival of Wörthersee in Austria is entering the twilight of its multi-week go. The corporate presence from brands like Audi, Volkswagen, SEAT and Skoda are firmly in place and the final “official” days have begun.
Our own Jamie Vondruska popped in during the craziness of the official days and has submitted several hundred photos from his 24-hour pop into the small Austrian town of Reifnitz. Each has been added to our photo galleries, both separated by model and also clustered together into one folder of contributions from Vondruska.
As you can see, the highlight of the official days is the corporate presence. For Audi, this meant pulling the wraps off of the TT clubsport turbo concept along with other featured cars in the Audi stand. These also included a TT Cup racecar, a new R8 racecar, a new R8 V10 plus and various other models.
Those watching our coverage closely will note the difference in public days. The volume of enthusiasts and cars has grown exponentially. Even still, with grown numbers also means a drop in overall quality of builds if not outrageousness. More of the extensive builds during these days go to corporate presences like Abt Sportsline and Oettinger.
We’ll have a more thorough summary of the event and a few more news items stemming from Wörthersee next week. For now, our staff shifts to covering Southern Wörthersee in Helen, GA, the Carlisle Import Nationals in Pennsylvania, in addition to the Nurburgring 24 Hour race that also happens this weekend.
