Heikkinen joined Team EKS last season and finished in 7th place in the drivers’ championship, earning a second place and two thirds.
Before joining Team EKS, Heikkinen raced a Volkswagen Polo with Marklund Motorsport and was Red Bull’s Global Ralycross Champion in 2013, finishing in second in the FIA’s World Rallycross Championship in 2014.
Team EKS won last year’s championship despite not having factory backing from Audi, whose cars it races. Long time Audi racer, Mattias Ekstrom publicly stated late last year that he wasn’t sure if the team could win without factory backing. Early in 2017, though, Audi announced that it would back Ekstrom and his team.
With the team now complete, all that’s left is for Team EKS to defend its championship
