Though one of the fresher faces in Audi’s DTM lineup, Edoardo Mortara should not be underestimated. While his name may not be as synonymous with Audi and the DTM as say Ekstrom or Scheider, Mortara still came out in the points this year, better than any of his Audi teammates by season’s end. No doubt “Edo” is one of Audi’s aces, so maybe it’s not a surprise that he will be testing with Lotus F1 following that team’s next round in Abu Dhabi.
Edo will join Davide Valsecchi (the 2012 GP2 Champion) as the Lotus team tests following the Grand Prix. Nicolas Prost will also take part and Mortara is scheduled to drive on November 7.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me to join Lotus and especially to be driving the E20 on track in Abu Dhabi,” he said. “I can’t wait to be in action and working with a team which is performing so well this season and has such good prospects for the future,” stated Mortara to AutoSport Magazine. He further confirmed the news today on Facebook, posting, “Thanks Lotus F1 team and Audi Sport for making this F1 test possible. It is a real dream come true :)”
