DTM hockenheimring test 2016 photo

Audi RS 5 DTM Leaves Strong Impression

Audi Sport underwent four days of rigorous testing this past week at Germany’s Hockenheimring, traveling just over 5400 miles in total in preparation of the 2016 DTM season.  Seven series Audi RS5 DTMs were tested by Audi Sport teams Abt Sportsline, Phoenix Racing and Rosberg, as were two additional cars fielded by Audi Sport themselves in order to test new Hankook race rubber for 2017.

During the four day session, Audi Sport achieved the best lap at 1m 32.964s set by Mattias Ekström and were able to effectively test in multiple weather conditions and temperatures.  Most importantly though, was that Audi Sport drivers were able to complete their tests without incident, providing valuable feedback to team engineers.  If all goes according to plan, engineers will use this information to help put Audi on top when the 2016 DTM season gets underway on May 7th at Hockenheim.
