GRAND-AM Employs Agency, Deploys Contest to Name New Series Post ALMS Merger


There’s been no shortage of conjecture levied in the general direction of GRAND-AM and the American Le Mans Series as they move toward a merged series in 2014. To be honest, much of that has happened in lieu of real details from series organizers, though a signal that they’re headed in a clear direction is this week’s news of the hiring of SME Branding agency and the subsequent series naming contest announced for fans.

SME Branding was hired for the express purpose to help develop the identity of the new series. The New York-based agency comes with a more than adequate resume, listing the likes of NASCAR, the NFL, NHL, UFC, the New York Yankees, the Kentucky Derby and Madison Square Garden as clients.

Grand-Am and the ALMS have revealed that they expect to debut the new name in early 2013, and as they move toward that goal they’ve also engaged fans in the form of a contest. Below is the text provided by Grand-Am and also a link on where to enter if you think you’ve got the answer.

Starting in 214, RAND-AM Road Racing and the American Le Mans Series will be racing together and we want your help creating the name for this significant merger.
