GT3: Audi R8 LMS Cup Enters New Era

Audi’s R8 LMS Cup will enter a new era when the fifth season kicks off this weekend at Shanghai International Circuit, marking the first time that the series will use Audi’s second-generation R8 LMS racecar.  To take place at five different circuits around Asia on six weekends for a total of twelve races, and hosting an impressive lineup of drivers from around the globe, the Audi R8 LMS Cup will be “…the ideal showcase in Asia for the Audi R8 LMS”, says Rene Koneberg, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia.

In all, 15 of the 20 contestants will campaign Audi’s latest R8 LMS, while five will use the previous generation car, eligible for the Masters Cup title.  Of this mix, Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing says, “We’re pleased to see so many customers relying on our new race car in the Audi R8 LMS Cup.”

The Audi R8 LMS Cup will be broadcast live on, and broadcast on various TV channels around the world.  Here in the US, viewers can tune in on Bon TV and Tuff TV, or use the aforementioned website for live streaming.
