Tough and Soggy Weekend for Audi at Nurburgring 24 Hours

The Nurburgring 24 Hours turned into something of a circus after heavy rain and hail caused a number of (read: almost all) cars to go careening off track.

Despite the terrible weather, it was the dawn that caused the Audis the most trouble. The top three Audis were eliminated within a half hour of each other, while the #6 R8 LMS was eliminated with only two hours left in the race.

That made Stuart Leonard, who finished 8th, in his #2 WRT Audi R8 LMS the highest placed finisher for the brand.

The race was a challenging one for everyone, though, and it was red flagged fairly early on. Racers returned to the track after a more than three hour delay.

Ultimately it just wasn’t Audi’s weekend. They have indicated their commitment to getting a better result next year, though, with the hashtag #Revenge2017.
