In this season’s post-Le Mans racing, the Audi R18 has proven to be a just slightly slower formula than the Porsche 919. While the net effect has left Audi fighting simply for a podium finish in nearly every race, it’s also been a formula that has forced Audi Sport drivers to wring all they can from their cars in order to fight for a win. The ensuing battles have been the stuff for the legend books.
Take for example a fight last weekend at the 6 Hours of Bahrain, between Benoit Treluyer and Porsche’s Marc Lieb. During the fourth hour of the race, Treluyer was fighting to maintain his lead and potentially steal the drivers’ championship.
