With the 2012 DTM season just put to bed last weekend in Hockenheim, the German series has put together a fantastic video short on YouTube. Dubbed ‘The DTM Orchestra’, the piece puts some of this year’s best race footage to a high energy orchestral piece.
This video got us to thinking. Of the motorsport series that Audi competes in, the DTM seems to be the less loved of the group. Though Le Mans/WEC certainly pushes technology and team members further, and Nurburgring is more fabled, this video reminds us of everything we love about Audi’s touring car heritage. You won’t find such ragged-edge and rough and tumble (via bumping and smashing) racing in any other series in which Audi competes. This year was a tough year for the Audi Sport DTM squads, but not for lack of putting on a good show. To that we’ll raise a glass to the DTM teams and thank them for such a great show.
Next year the Japanese Super GT adopts their rules. With luck a year later we’ll see them in the States as part of the GRAND-AM race weekend. Right now you can see what Japan and America are in store for by watching it below.
