WEC: Audi Aims to Continue Major Successes at Spa

Coming off of a disappointing disqualification and DNF at the season opener at Silverstone, to say that Audi Sport has high hopes for the 6 Hours of Spa Francorchamps would be the understatement of the year. Spa is a track the squad knows quite well, having finished on the podium for six consecutive years, and their new R18 has proven to be strong, finishing first overall before excessive front splitter wear led to a disqualification.  Audi Sport boss Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich is hoping this will create a perfect storm when the cars take the green flag in Belgium on May 7th.

Spa also plays as somewhat of a homecoming for both Audi and Andre Lotterer.  Lotterer, a longtime driver for the four rings and key part of many of their successes, grew up just 150km west of the 7km circuit, and has previously won the 6 Hours of Spa in 2013 and 2015.  Audi currently produces their A1 city car in Brussels, just two hours from the storied race track.

The 6 Hours of Spa Francorchamps gets underway on May 7th.  Read the entire press release below.
