Lotterer and Vanthoor inspire Brussels
The two Audi drivers André Lotterer and Laurens Vanthoor were the stars of the motor show in Brussels last week. Double Le Mans winner Lotterer, who grew up in Belgium, busily signed autographs and posed for photographs on the Audi stand together with fans around the Audi R18 e-tron quattro. Local hero Vanthoor, FIA GT Series Champion in the Audi R8 LMS ultra, visited the exhibition a few days later.
Benoît Tréluyer debuts on ice
Audi factory driver Benoît Tréluyer is not only fast in the Audi R18 e-tron quattro but also in an electric vehicle on ice. The two-time Le Mans winner celebrated his debut in the French ‘Trophée Andros Electrique’ ice racing series at Lans-en-Vercors and set an impressive third-fastest time in the final qualifying session. Tréluyer finished each of the two races in sixth place.
Allan McNish ambassador for Audi Sport
Allan McNish made his debut in a new role at the Daytona 24 Hours. In addition to other responsibilities, the reigning World Endurance Champion and Le Mans winner has assumed the role of an ambassador and representative for Audi Sport with a focus on U.S. racing. McNish won the American Le Mans Series with Audi in 2000, 2006 and 2007.
Tom Kristensen race driver of the year in Denmark
Tom Kristensen has been voted ‘race driver’ of the year in his native Denmark for an amazing seventh time. The Audi factory driver was presented with the accolade by the Danish Auto Sport Union in Copenhagen on Thursday night. “This award means a lot to me,” said the nine-time Le Mans winner and reigning World Endurance Champion. “2013 was the most successful season in my career – and I would like to particularly thank Audi, my team and my team-mates Loïc (Duval) and Allan (McNish) for it.”
Tom Kristensen meets Schweinsteiger and Hirscher
Action-packed variety for Tom Kristensen in the preparation stage for the new motorsport season: The Audi factory driver visited the Ski World Cup race in Kitzbühel, as did the DTM drivers Timo Scheider and Mattias Ekström. At an Audi driving experience event on snow and ice, the record Le Mans winner and world sports car champion met slalom ace Marcel Hirscher and FC Bayern star Bastian Schweinsteiger, and chauffeured the athletes around the specially prepared course.
