We spotted a mention of Snake River Canyon on Audi USA’s Facebook page this week. In case you’re not familiar, this is the place where Evel Knievel attempted a jump in a jet contraption back in the 70s and the staffers at Audi’s Facebook page seemed to make it look like the RS 5 might be attempting a jump. We’ll admit, we were a bit perplexed and we are even moreso after receiving the link to the video below.
We’ve not yet contacted Audi marketing to get their purpose for the video as it is devoid of the usual commercial branding, but we’re guessing the point is to spur discussion about the hot new RS 5… and that it will likely do. When you see the aerial view of the Snake River Canyon, you quickly realize it’s an impossibility for a car to make that sort of jump… but the production value of this video is insane, making us think it’s less YouTube short and probably bound for TV commercial use. From the support locations to the RS 5 with its roll cage and non-airbag wheel, this wasn’t just something they threw together.
So what do you think? Did he make it… and why did they make it? Let us know your take.
