It’s been a long wait, but the DTM season is finally starting this weekend and we finally have some video evidence of how the cars will look on track.
The six cars were shot testing at the Hockenheimring, where they will be racing this weekend alongside the FIA World Rallycross Championship. Incidentally, Mattias Ekstrom will have a very busy weekend as he’ll be racing in both series.
The new cars pump out more than 500 hp from their V8 engines despite having less downforce. The result is a trickier, but a faster car that will hopefully also be easier to pass with.
Last year, Audi took home the constructor’s championship, but not a driver’s championship after a late-season penalty deprived Audi’s Edoardo Mortara of exactly as many points as he would have needed to win the championship.
Audi is therefore back with a vengeance this year, intent on making one of its drivers the DTM champion.
