A green light for the start of the event season: in 2013 Audi Tradition will be present at more than 30 international events, including several anniversaries. At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, for example, Hannu Mikkola will take the wheel of an original Audi Rally quattro. In 1983, thirty years previously, he was the first driver to win the world rally championship in an Audi. 75 years have elapsed since Ewald Kluge became the first German winner of the world’s most difficult, hazardous motorcycle race, the Tourist Trophy (TT) on the Isle of Man on a 250 cc DKW. Audi Tradition will therefore be participating for the first time in the Classic TT held in August, which attracts motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world to the island in the Irish Sea.

Coming off a record 2012, Audi is showing no signs of slowing down for 2013. Sales of Audi premium category vehicles (Audi A8, Audi A7, Audi A6, and Audi Q7) increased 13% to represent 33.3% share of total Audi sales in January. That compares to a 19% mix for the most luxurious Audi models in 2008. Consumers continue to demand the Audi A8 flagship sedan, as sales soared 56% over the year earlier. Audi A5 sales also performed well, posting a 37% gain from January 2012 sales.

The considered yet complete transformation of the Audi A3 Sportback has been enough to earn it one of the most coveted accolades in the motor industry – the What Car? Magazine Car of the Year Award for 2013. The all-new five-door premium compact hatchback took the top honour, along with the Best Small Family Car award, at the magazine’s annual high profile presentation event, staged last night in London. The TT Coupe also emphasised its enduring appeal by being voted Best Coupe for the seventh consecutive year.
