The new Audi RS 6 Avant stands for pioneering performance. It is lighter and more efficient than the predecessor version and its performance has improved once more. The RS 6 Avant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 3.9 seconds. If the customer wishes, its top speed can be 305 km/h (189.52 mph). Its 4.0 TFSI develops 412 kW (560 hp) while averaging just 9.8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (24.00 US mpg). The new Audi RS 6 Avant is a high-performance sports car for everyday use and leisure. Its character and thoroughly sporty design is the work of quattro GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of AUDI AG. RS models boast powerful engines and constitute the dynamic spearhead of the Audi portfolio. The abbreviation “RS” represents many things: the most powerful engine within a model line, quattro permanent all-wheel drive, extremely dynamic performance, an understated look and comprehensive everyday practicality. We’re admittedly most jealous of our European colleagues in the automotive journalism world today. As we sit here in the office, we’re seeing tweets and facebook posts of them out enjoying the launch of the awesome new Audi RS 6. Alas, that model is not bound for America so there was never really any chance [...] More…
It’s been a few weeks since we’ve run a #FotoshopFriday so we thought we’d return to the series with a bang in the form of an Audi RS 8. Given how many comments we get on these stories, we should probably reiterate that THIS IS NOT A REAL CAR. Having said that, we wish it were. More…
Elegant, luxurious and extremely sporty, that’s how the estate car looks like. The new ABT AS6-R Avant, based upon the Audi S6, is an all-rounder of the first water. It is a travel companion, racer and, if need be, a racer. The AS6-R has as many strong points as there are fields of application. Thanks to ABT POWER S, that is, an optimised motor management, and the ABT turbocharger, it is indeed most powerful and persevering. 600 hp/441 kW, 40 hp more than even the Audi RS6 has, will make it huge fun to drive on the “Nordschleife”, too. Though based on the same platform and sharing the same drivetrain, the new S6 sedan and S7 Sportback are distinctly different cars. We hit the winding roads of the undulating and slithering Hudson River Valley in upstate New York in order to get a taste and also to catalog the differences. More…
Today begins APR’s annual distributor conference. The Alabama-based tuning firm likes to take this opportunity to introduce new products they have in the chute and this year is no exception. The focus, perhaps not surprisingly, is Audi’s new range of 4.0 TFSI S-cars – models powered by powered by an engine ripe for software tuning. [...] More…
APR has released another teaser about its upcoming Stage 1 software for the Audi 4.0 TFSI. This past weekend the Alabama-based team took their Audi S7 development car to the local drag strip and nailed down some interesting results. For comparison’s sake, the team ran stock mode as well. Even there, the S7 was exceedingly [...] More…
We literally just ran a story about APR teasing a shot of their upcoming RS 5 supercharger upgrade on Facebook, and just 24 hours later they’re at it again with an early look at dyno graphs from their upcoming 4.0 TFSI ECU upgrade. Not surprisingly, the numbers look…. robust. From looking at the graph, the [...] More…
Good news for all those who find that the 420 hp in the Audi S6-C7 4.0 TFSI quattro sometimes just doesn’t have enough grip. In the high-tech studio of Wettstetten manufacturer MTM, a power pack has been created that, when needed, releases a tremendous thrust power: 555 instead of 420 hp and a torque of [...] More…
APR Tuned has released an interesting video – an overlay of an Audi S7 in two different tunes. Essentially, it’s the same shot of the car’s instrument cluster in like accelerations and overlaying the pictures. The net effect shows you the difference of speedometer and tachometer needle placement during the two runs. The car in [...] More…
Neckarsulm, GERMANY – This week the RS 6 Avant begins to roll off the production lines of quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm. Production of this new model combines all the expertise of this facility. As soon as we’d read the very first details of Audi’s new S-cars and their new 4.0 TFSI we’ve been wondering how the aftermarket will embrace this new mill. Several tuners have already acquired cars and have begun development, and now this morning we’ve seen these photos from Germany’s SKN via our friends at Milltek [...] More…
