Over the last few weeks we’ve Caractere has revealed their latest body kit treatments for the A5/S5 Sportback and A5/S5 coupe. With a look very similar to the new RS 6 and RS 7 from Audi, these kits offer an OE+ look that not even Audi offers in its A5/S5/RS 5 family. Completing the effort now is the new A5/S5 Cabriolet fitment revealed in these photos.

Just over a week ago, the Audi tuning firm Caractere pulled the wraps off of their latest kit for the facelifted A5 Sportback. Here we are just days later and first photos of the application for the A5/S5 coupe have surfaced and, as hoped, embrace the same OE+ C7 RS-look theme as that of the Sportback.

The Caractere Performance tuning program for the Audi A5 (Facelift) is coming in May. Consists of a complete front bumper, rear diffuser with or without muffler and Caractere designed tips, boot spoiler and set of side skirts. Caractere CW1 wheels are available in 19″, 20″ & 21″ in Graphite or Silver finish. Caractere Performance ECU upgrades round out this tuning program.

One of our favorite trends in aftermarket body kits is the push for an OE+ appearance. With so many fantastic-looking new performance levels within Audi’s range, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel (or bumper). Some manufacturers like Caractere are taking the latest Audi design cues and using them to richly upgrade the appearance of an Audi. A great example is this new treatment for the facelifted A5 (and presumably S5) that adopts the front bumper appearance of the new RS 6 and RS 7 models for Audi’s mid-level coupe.

We’ve stumbled across some very interesting intel today about the next-generation Audi RS 5 in a greater report on the A5 lineup. We’ll get to the more pedestrian stuff, but it is clearly the RS 5 information that’s grabbing our attention. It’s not just that the RS 5 is the most lustworthy of the A5-S5-RS 5 range, but also because said information also includes news of a 475 bhp twin turbo V6.

What you see here are shots of the upcoming BMW 4-series coupe. “4-series” is the new designation for the coupe version of the 2-door BMW 3-series. If that sounds just a bit similar to Audi’s own staggered A4/A5 sedan/coupe nomenclature designation then maybe it’s no surprise that they appear to have a brand new A5 out on cold weather testing rounds with this camouflaged coupe test mule.

That the grass is always greener on the other side of the pond for import car enthusiasts seems to be a universal norm. As Americans we envision Europeans blasting away on empty autobahns in obscure Audi S or RS models that we simply don’t get and shifting their manual transmissions that, more often than not nowadays, they don’t even get. And while that may be what we imagine, the reality is that the autobahn is getting more and more congested and that a tank of ‘petrol’ is exceedingly expensive on the ‘right’ side of the Atlantic. Over there small displacement tends to be the more likely euro reality and cars like the A5 Sportback may already be Euro only, but ordered as a 1.8 TFSI and without quattro is a much more likely scenario for a German Audi owner than is an RS 4 Avant. Having always lusted for the A5 Sportback, we decided to sample the car and see if even the smallest engine variant would capture our hearts.
