Many Audi tuning fans rejoiced when word broke that the S4 and other Audi models would return to forced induction with the addition of the 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6. By nature a supercharger isn’t as crazily tunable as a turbo system like that of the legendary 2.7T with which the first-gen B5 S4 was introduced, but software alone is still significant and a pulley will get you even further. Now, for those looking for even more, Alabama-based APR may have the solution you’re looking for.

Johnny Petrina stands just two steps the APR Project Reunion TT RS’ 11’oclock. You can’t see his eyes through his dark Oakley sunglasses, but the Alabama tuner’s Director of Operations is peering in the general direction of his other cars – an S4, an S7, an RS 5 and, oh yeah, a $350,000 Audi R8 GRAND-AM race car. The R8 he’s eyeing isn’t the car that just won second place in Lime Rock, because that car and most of the team are three states away in Lime Rock Connecticut. Depending on how you look at it, Johnny may be missing out… but then again maybe not. He’s got some seriously expensive Audi alloy at his fingertips and he’s spending the weekend in Ocean City, Maryland. Yup, it must be H20i. More…

Back when Waterfest was first held in 1994, the landscape for enthusiast shows was just a bit different. The web was in its infancy, which is to say not much more than a few college students doing a bit of rudimentary coding. Audi of America was hanging by a thread because desperately-needed product like the B5 A4 hadn’t yet hit the market. Much has changed in eighteen years.

As part of his ongoing series about tuned automobiles, Drive’s Matt Farah has paid a visit to the Alabama headquarters of APR and sampled their TT RS development car. With its high strung turbocharged 2.5 TFSI 5-cylinder already turning better hp/liter numbers than the Bugatti Veyron, you have to wonder just how much more can be squeezed out of the inline-5. According to APR and Farah, there’s plenty. More…
