Audi Tradition is celebrating not one but two anniversaries at the Techno Classica in Essen (April 10 to 14). In Hall 7 of the world’s largest classic car fair, the brand with the four-ring emblem is displaying examples from the history of its V8 engines. 80 years have elapsed since Audi’s associate company Horch exhibited the new 830 model at the Berlin Motor Show, powered by that company’s first V8 engine. 25 years later the Audi V8 went into production and represented a milestone in Audi’s history – access to the premium segment of the market. The fans have delivered their verdict, and the winner is – the Audi quattro. With more than fifteen thousand “Likes”, Facebook users chose eleven cars for display in the new special exhibition “I like it” to be held in the Audi museum mobile. Most votes went to the 1984 Audi quattro with four-wheel steering, with the A1 clubsport quattro and Audi TT clubsport quattro joining the winner on the podium in second and third places. More…
A green light for the start of the event season: in 2013 Audi Tradition will be present at more than 30 international events, including several anniversaries. At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, for example, Hannu Mikkola will take the wheel of an original Audi Rally quattro. In 1983, thirty years previously, he was the first driver to win the world rally championship in an Audi. 75 years have elapsed since Ewald Kluge became the first German winner of the world’s most difficult, hazardous motorcycle race, the Tourist Trophy (TT) on the Isle of Man on a 250 cc DKW. Audi Tradition will therefore be participating for the first time in the Classic TT held in August, which attracts motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world to the island in the Irish Sea. More…

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Octane Magazine remains one of our favorite print mags for so many reasons not the least of which are their epic feature stories about even more epic automotive icons. Audi Tradition is fond of the British magazine as well, and you’ll find several exclusive Audi-focused highlights throughout the year. Case in point is one in the latest issue whereby Le Mans winner Andre Lotterer takes to the wheel of a Group B Audi Sport quattro rally car. More…
Just over 75 years ago, on January 28 1938, the racing world lost one of the most legendary drivers in the history of the sport. Star of the Auto Union Silver Arrow Squad, Bernd Rosemeyer had won the titles of European Champion, German Champion and German Bergmeister by 1936 at the age of 26. Two [...] More…
There’s no doubt that the 60s and 70s made for a period of some of the most iconic sportscar design. Long before Audi ever considered an R8, there were the legends of nearly any Ferrari with a 250 or 365 designation, the Lamborghini Miura and Countach, and countless others from storied marques like Jaguar, Maserati [...] More…
The 2013 wall calendar from Audi Tradition has arrived! Under the slogan “Forever Young”, it features twelve vehicles from recent chapters in the history of Audi. Automotive photographer Stefan Warter was responsible for the lavish studio shots of the classic cars, which were all built between the 1960s and the 1990s. An individual background was created for each image, with designs by artist Kristina Redeker. More…
You may remember last year when Audi Tradition made waves by purchasing their first DKW GT Malzoni. Due to a serious lack of production after the war, Audi and its now defunct brands missed out the classic sportscar era of the 1960s for the most part. Cars like the DKW Monza and also the Brazilian-built Malzoni are some of the only exceptions to this, and one of the super rare Malzonis has now been posted for sale in the Fourtitude Classifieds. Scale model car manufacturer Minichamps has added a new offering to its growing list of Silver Arrow Auto Union racers. This time around the German model manufacturer has created a replica of an early Auto Union Type A grand prix racer – most easily spotted thanks to its flat-faced grille on the front. More…
We’ve been looking for a reason to publish this photo we’ve found from Audi’s archives. We need to do a little more research to determine the time and the place, but #ThrowbackThursday seemed like excuse enough to run it on the site. What you see here is a B1 Audi 80 (known as Audi Fox in the USA) catching more than its fair share of air while rallying. These were the days before the legendary quattro, and the car appears sponsored by Audi tuning firm Abt. More…
A once-in-a-lifetime gathering of Silver Arrows saw a lively demonstration each day of the Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union racers vigorously tackling the Goodwood circuit. When resting, the cars were housed in their own distinctive paddock, constructed specifically for the 2012 Revival, and accurately recreating the paddock shelters of the Bremgarten circuit’ home to the Swiss Grand Prix in the 1930s.
