From powder to a component: With a 3D printer, Audi Toolmaking has produced a model of the historical Grand Prix sports car “Auto Union Typ C” from the year 1936. The company is now examining further possible applications of metal printers for the production of complex components. The Audi Tradition exhibit at this year’s Techno Classica in Essen centers around convertibles and roadsters. The world’s biggest classic car show provides the perfect stage for eight automotive treasures from Audi’s history from Wednesday, April 15 to Sunday, April 19. The theme of the exhibit from Ingolstadt is “Nach oben offen” (“The sky’s the limit”) – and is rounded out by three NSU racing motorcycles and an NSU “Renndienst” racing service bus.

Silver Arrows Project, the history-based project seeking to visually re-tell the story of the Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows of the pre-war racing era, first came onto our radar when they showed up at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Since that time, the team has expanded their product offering to include these handsome poster prints just in time for the holidays.
