The Audi motorsport experience offers Audi customers an opportunity to learn about Audi racing technology during a race weekend or at the Dealership. Programs include hospitality for the World Endurance Championships and the TUDOR SportsCar Championship. Trackside event activities include Driver meet and greet, technical discussion, paddock, pit and track tours. Audi Fan Zones showcase Audi historic racing vehicles, Audi collection merchandise, racing simulators, Audi Racing Legend presentations and race updates. Dealership events focus on race to production technology and feature Audi teams and cars. Driver meet and greet, technical discussion, and test drives are elements in the program.

Flying Lizard Motorsports wrapped up the first test of the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship season in successful fashion, running its No. 35 and No. 45 Audi R8 LMS race cars for eight separate sessions over three days, and finishing with the quickest lap time in the 28-car GT Daytona class at a 1:47.981, quicker than the fastest Audi race and qualifying laps from 2013. The PR Newswire / UBM Tech / eSilicon No. 35 was shared by Seth Neiman, Dion von Moltke, Alessandro Latif, and Filipe Albuquerque, while the Venezuela / eSilicon No. 45 was driven by Nelson Canache Jr., Spencer Pumpelly, and Markus Winkelhock, with Tim Pappas set to join the trio for the Rolex 24 race coming up in three weeks.

Forget the fact that English isn’t his first language… and maybe even his second or third. Filipe Albuquerque speaks it both fluently and quickly. When asked whether there’s any confusion jumping from the R8 LMS with its refined aero package to the less-optimized R8 GRAND-AM, he didn’t even seem concerned. The 27-year old Portuguese Audi factory driver pointed out that he has always found himself to be a quick study. You put him in a car, and he learns the nuance and the limits very fast. That adaptability probably explains why Filipe came out of seemingly nowhere at the 2010 Race of Champions and bested the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Michael Schumacher and Tom Kristensen in an upset victory for the ‘new guy’.
