The international motor show in Geneva, Switzerland is important to Audi on a number of fronts. The event is one of Europe’s biggest and a major international stage for design and technology. As a result, Ingolstadt has shown very significant models here over the years – from the original quattro in 1980 to concepts like the A3 sedan shown in 2011. More often than not, the focus for Audi is technology-leading production cars and 2013 marked no exception to that trend. More…

The annual auto show circuit is set to begin in just over a week in Detroit, though rumors coming out of Germany’s buff magazines this week (Autobild.de, AutoPress.de) suggest that intel is already out on what will headline at September’s Frankfurt IAA – and that headliner is the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron. The rumors include [...] More…
Here at Fourtitude we appreciate the exposure by these blogs. And we’re with them to a man about the hope that we think the idea of an R8 e-tron production car would be a cool one. Even still, it is important to clarify that Audi has not given us any indication either via the information release or directly that the status of the project, which was on hold for evaluation, has now been given a second green light. It remains on hold from what we can tell. More…
A few weeks ago word leaked out of Ingolstadt that the R8 e-tron project had been put on hold, finding itself in sort of limbo. A lack of technological advancement in battery technology and some other matters caused Audi to re-examine the project of producing an electric R8 as its first e-tron model, though it appears that doesn’t mean that the project has entirely stopped. The project remains a grand technological learning platform for Audi and as such Ingolstadt recently released more information on the R8 e-tron. As you can see in the accompanying pictures, it exposes some updates including the facelift components that have been applied to the newest production R8 models. More…
News is breaking this week that Audi’s R8 e-tron program could be in jeopardy. The program that began with the first e-tron concept launched at the 2009 Frankfurt IAA has been a long and storied one. Following the concept, Audi’s then development Michael Dick promised the car would be built in the next few years. R8-bodied prototypes [...] More…
En route to the Paris Motor Show, we stopped off for a visit to Ingolstadt. While you can sometimes spot a preproduction test mule (like a facelifted R8 Spyder test mule we caught back in July) on the less trafficked areas around Audi’s worldwide HQ, we find there’s often plenty for the sharp eyed aficionado even within the more public and tourist-oriented side by the Audi Forum Ingolstadt. Audi is set to make driving even safer with a new technology: the digital rear-view mirror delivers brilliant images and is due to enter small-scale production in the Audi R8 e-tron at the end of this year. This model – like the current Le Mans winners – has no rear window and hence no conventional rear-view mirror. Its high-tech successor is the digital rear-view mirror – a camera/monitor system. More…
Our trip to Germany this week centered around the Munich Airport. The Q5 and SQ5 launch (reviews coming soon) staged out of the Audi Forum Munich’s conference center. Below that in the main piazza of the airport we found this large Audi display focused on Audi’s e-tron and Audi connect technologies. Here are a few highlights. More…
