Intel coming from AutoExpress Magazine is that Audi will add a second e-tron model following the A3 e-tron with a new A8 e-tron. Even more interesting, this newer and more luxurious offering will feature a 3.0 TDI as range extender versus the 1.4 TFSI petrol of the A3. According to a report at Reuters, Audi is readying a range of high-performance electric cars in order to vie for electric vehicle superiority against the likes of America’s Tesla brand or German products like the i-range from BMW.

Unlike the round glass-enclosed museum mobile with its paternoster car rotisserie, Cafe A51 that’ll make you a cappuccino with a four-ring dusting of cocoa, the rather nondescript building A50 is where Audi’s board members work. Audi and Partner FAW Cooperate on Plug-in Hybrid for China

Together with its Chinese joint-venture partner FAW, Audi is to launch a plug-in hybrid car for the Chinese market. The Audi A6 e-tron will be based on the long-wheelbase version of the Audi A6, which is already produced in China, and will be specially developed for the most important market of the German premium manufacturer.

As an accompaniment to the market launch of the A3 e tron*, Audi is offering customers in Germany green electricity – Audi energy. The cooperating partner is the Hamburg energy provider LichtBlick SE. With Audi energy, the A3 e tron is totally emission-free when operated electrically.

Rumor: Audi R8 e-tron Back in Play for Production Run

When last we’d left the Audi R8 e-tron project, it had been relegated to development platform. Plans for a limited production run of this electric sports car sans any plug-in engine component had been shelved due to what Audi described at the time as a lack of battery technology. Said lack of battery capability had made the overall range of the car below what Audi had hoped and thus the limited series of cars that had been built were to be simply an “engineering exercise”.

The A3 Sportback e-tron from Audi is a latest-generation plug-in-hybrid car. The premium compact vehicle will go on sale from 2014 and is a genuine Audi. It combines sporty power with impressive efficiency and abundant driving enjoyment with unrestricted everyday utility. The A3 Sportback e-tron offers 150 kW (204 hp) of system power and achieves average consumption of only 1.5 liters per 100 kilometers (156.81 US mpg) of gasoline. In the electric mode its operating range is up to 50 kilometers (31.07 miles), with the TFSI engine adding a further 890 kilometers (553.02 miles).
