Ever since the A1 was introduced, there’s been plenty of discussion whether there’d be an S or RS version of the little car. Test mules of what was believed both cars have been spied and and “S1″-logo instrument cluster on a car spied at Audi headquarters seemed to suggest at least the S-car version, but [...] More…
In this week following his win at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, Audi factory driver Filipe Albuquerque is enjoying a well-earned break on the beaches of Miami. Filipe is literally world’s away from icy climates like those where one might go ice racing in an A1 quattro… but that’s jus the difference that was [...] More…
There’s been a bit of a debate amongst Audi fans as to whether a S-badged version of the A1 is planned. ‘The S1 nameplate is sacred,’ say some, while the existence of the limited 333 build run A1 quattro has further muddied the waters. On the other hand, a particular A1 parked in the executive [...] More…
When Audi built the A1 clubsport quattro for the Austrian enthusiast gathering at Worthersee, it set about construction of the ultimate tuned A1. That car, with full bodywork by the Audi Design Team, 2.5 TFSI swapped engine and quattro before there ever was a production A1 quattro, set afire the hearts of Audi enthusiast around [...] More…
It didn’t take much on our drive earlier this year of the Audi A1 clubsport quattro for us to fall in love. Who wouldn’t? Audi took fitted the same (actually boosted) 2.5 TFSI as is found in the TT RS and paired it with quattro in order to make the hottest hatch going. Alas, that car was a concept car but we have hope there may eventually be a real thing… so we rendered a guess as to what it might look like. More…
Look at this: 1,390 kg light, plus a 2 litre turbo engine of 256 hp (188 kW) – the Audi A1 quattro is definitely one of its class’s top dogs. And for ABT Sportsline it is an ideal basis for an exceptional car, as Hans-Jürgen Abt emphasises: “A dynamic engine, an intelligent 4WD and a low weight – our A1 quattro is a real racer.“ For the managing director of the globally largest tuner of cars produced by the Volkswagen Group, this “little devil” is pure energy, provides a lot of fun and with ABT POWER becomes “a racing car for the road”. Las Vegas, NV – “The Strip”, Las Vegas’ main street isn’t exactly the first place you’d think to test-drive a high performance concept car. Lacking a name like “Tail of the Dragon” that suggests sinewy S-curves and 180-degree switchbacks with deceptively decreasing radii, Vegas’ Strip goes more for the triple entrendre of byway, place where you can readily lose your shirt and place where women named after Disney characters readily lose much more than a shirt while in close proximity to shiny pole and even shinier glitter. No, there’s no suggestion of intense driving experience here, but several miles of stop and go traffic in virtually a straight line might just be perfect for Audi AG handlers to give us a taste of their priceless ultimate hot hatch concept without actually placing it in harm’s way… that is of course if you don’t count the throngs of tourists and drunkards on the sidewalk or the thick traffic of weekday rush hour. Oh well, at least we have a police escort. More…
