The etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben proved a good stomping ground for ex-DTM driver Christian Abt in the 2009 season; Abt lifted the ADAC GT Masters title at the circuit. Four years later, the newly formed team Prosperia C. Abt Racing composed of Christian Abt, Christopher Mies (23, Germany) and René Rast (26, Germany) triumphed at the season-opener in an Audi R8 after going on a superb charge up the field. From 15th position on the grid, the Audi drivers achieved victory in the first race of the season. In an action-packed race on a wet track, second and third went to the Porsche duos of Philip Frommenwiler (23 Switzerland)/Mario Farnbacher (20, Germany/Farnbacher Racing) and Robert Renauer (28, Germany)/Martin Ragginger (25, Austria/Tonino-Herberth Motorsport).

Last night, Audi celebrated the star-studded U.S. premiere of one of summer’s most anticipated films, Iron Man 3. Held at the historic El Capitan and TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood, CA, Iron Man himself, Robert Downey, Jr. brought Hollywood Boulevard to a halt to arrive at the red carpet in style, driving up in Tony Stark’s vehicle of choice, a red 2014 Audi R8 Spyder. Gwyneth Paltrow also arrived in an Audi A8L TDIand hit the red carpet dawning a sheer Antonio Berardi dress. Additional attendees at the premiere included Iron Man 3 director Shane Black, cast members Sir Ben Kinglsey, Rebecca Hall, Guy Pearce, Jon Favreau, Don Cheadle, Stephanie Szostak as well as Chris Hemsworth, Elsa Pataky, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Peter Facinelli, Cobie Smulders and Emily VanCamp amongst others. At the star-studded event, select celebrities arrived in stunning Audi clean diesel vehicles including the A8L TDI and Q7 TDI.

As mentioned, we happened to be at last weekend’s Porsche Club of America swapmeet in Hershey, PA last weekend and followed our usual ritual of spotting cool Audis that are quite common in the parking lot of this German car enthusiast-rich event.
