We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Octane Magazine remains one of our favorite print mags for so many reasons not the least of which are their epic feature stories about even more epic automotive icons. Audi Tradition is fond of the British magazine as well, and you’ll find several exclusive Audi-focused highlights throughout the year. Case in point is one in the latest issue whereby Le Mans winner Andre Lotterer takes to the wheel of a Group B Audi Sport quattro rally car. More…
Ever since the A1 was introduced, there’s been plenty of discussion whether there’d be an S or RS version of the little car. Test mules of what was believed both cars have been spied and and “S1″-logo instrument cluster on a car spied at Audi headquarters seemed to suggest at least the S-car version, but [...] More…
It just so happened that several incredible YouTube videos crossed our desk at about the same time this afternoon. The first, found via Jalopnik, is something you wouldn’t believe unless you see. It involves a powersliding ur quattro rally car and snapping a telephone pole. The video was shot at Austria’s Klausner/Söllner Jänner Rally. Next up [...] More…
Pardon the bad Jeff Foxworthy impression, but… when it comes to Audi A1-bodied test mules, if you have quad pipes and S line trim, you might be an S1. There’s been a bit of a debate amongst Audi fans as to whether a S-badged version of the A1 is planned. ‘The S1 nameplate is sacred,’ say some, while the existence of the limited 333 build run A1 quattro has further muddied the waters. On the other hand, a particular A1 parked in the executive [...] More…
It didn’t take much on our drive earlier this year of the Audi A1 clubsport quattro for us to fall in love. Who wouldn’t? Audi took fitted the same (actually boosted) 2.5 TFSI as is found in the TT RS and paired it with quattro in order to make the hottest hatch going. Alas, that car was a concept car but we have hope there may eventually be a real thing… so we rendered a guess as to what it might look like. More…
Spectators at the Schloss Bensberg Classics were able to look deep into Audi’s motorsport history. Hans-Joachim Stuck, first DTM Champion for Audi in 1990, was one of the many esteemed guests at Schloss Bensberg. The Audi Sport quattro S1 from 1985 gave fans a fascinating technical impression of the brand’s successful rallying history. More…
Audi RS power met Audi e-tron ingenuity at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which ran from June 29 through July 1. The all-new 450PS RS 4 Avant was just one of eight important UK new models to debut at the annual Sussex-based celebration of motoring and motorsport, and just one of seven RS models on the Audi stand. Their combined output of 2,695PS was in complete contrast to another star of the show – the tiny Audi Urban concept with its two electric motors developing 20PS. All points in between these two extremes were also be represented, with highlights including the 256PS A1 quattro, the eagerly awaited all-new A3, the latest A6 allroad quattro and the new S6, S7 Sportback and S8 trio with their V8 cylinder-on-demand technology. Our spy photographer sources have caught the latest Audi test mule on the roads in Europe. Following in the footsteps of the limited edition (333 examples) Audi A1 quattro, what you see here suggests a more common S-car version of the Audi A1. More…
