Yesterday we reported Audi Sport’s confirmation of an all-new motorsport program that will be announced at the Hockenheim DTM round in about a week and a half. We’d thrown down some guesses as to what that program might be (Formula E, new R8 LMS or some sort of Tudor series compatible LMP), but none of that made much sense being announced at a DTM round. Audi France Launches #DareTT Twitter-Powered TT Construct at Paris Motor Show

At the Mondial de l’Automobile 2014 and the launch of the new Audi TT, Audi France is offering a unique experience for its followers on Twitter with #dareTT, a 12 meter high megastructure shaped like the TT logo and connected to Twitter. The new Audi TT is installed on a mobile platform 8.50 meters above the ground, and then will gradually have its descent powered through tweets mentioning hashtags #Audi and #dareTT. More…

Today Audi builds about 50 different model derivatives, though fully intends to expand that number to 60 by the end of this decade. One expected point of expansion is the TT model family – today just coupe and Roadster, but a third model is expected soon. Basically, it all started as a club show… an event in NY state for some locals who’d banded together to form Club H2O. The club fizzled as clubs do when priorities change, and the remnants were picked up by Jay Shoup. Shoup’s a local to Ocean City, Maryland so you can probably see where this is going.

There’d been a rumor running that Audi will show a TT-based concept car. We theorized that it was likely a Sportback last week, and that much is true. Interestingly though, new pre-release drawings from the Audi Design Team appear to confirm the car will be more in the line of the A7 Sportback than it will Avant-like form we’d run with the story.

Choice Gear: 1:87 Scale Audi TT Mk3 by Herpa

1:87 scale cars are tiny. Matcbox/Hotwheels cars are larger in comparison, though in scale detail still goes to the 1:87 since that’s also the same scale as HO model trains. One of our favorite manufacturers is Herpa, the German manufacturer of many things tiny and also an official supplier to the Audi Collection.

During the presentation at the Audi TT launch last week, Audi’s moderator began a rehearsed Q&A with Ingolstadt’s chief of development Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg by mentioning a “rumored TT-based concept car for Paris”. Given this was no question by a journalist and instead pre-planned by a PR manager, Audi surely grabbed our attention.
