The Danish press is reporting that Audi Sport factory driver and reigning FIA WEC world champion Tom Kristensen has set a press conference in Copenhagen on Wednesday to discuss his future. No further facts were provided in this press call other than the reported planned attendance of Audi Sport boss Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich.

A rumor centering out of AutoExpress suggests big changes are afoot at Audi Sport. If true, the story signals an Audi Sport departure from LMP1 sportscar racing and also the DTM in favor of F1. Audi’s supposed recent hiring of former Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali as potential successor to Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich also weighs into the plan.

Audi Opens High-Tech Complex in Neuburg an der Donau

AUDI AG is strengthening its presence in the Ingolstadt region: Audi today officially put the high-tech Audi Neuburg complex into operation after a construction period of just two years. In the presence of the Prime Minister of Bavaria, Horst Seehofer, the Mayor of the city of Neuburg an der Donau, Dr. Bernhard Gmehling, and 250 other guests of honor, the 47-hectare site was opened by Prof. Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Board of Management Member for Technical Development of AUDI AG, and Peter Mosch, Chairman of the General Works Council of AUDI AG. Under one roof, the complex accommodates the Competence Center Motorsport with Audi Sport customer racing, the Audi driving experience center and functions of the Technical Development division. Audi is investing a high double-digit million amount in the new site, which is approximately 20 kilometers west of the company’s main site in Ingolstadt and will provide employment for a total of 460 people.

Texas Test: Behind the Scenes as Audi Test Runs the 2014 R18 e-tron quattro at Circuit of the Americas.

The view directly below my feet is a floor of of dotted clear glass atop the red steel waterfall of a tower that posits like Mount Olympus over the sprawling Circuit of the Americas. I adjust my Pumas so as not to virtually step on the line of parked Audi A4s that appear as bugs on the ground. Just beyond the row of Audis is the big sweeper that makes up turns 16, 17 and 18, ushered along by big swathes of red and white stripes. I can see what is left of the track’s trademark stars blacked out with paint atop a slightly more sun-bleached black tarmac. Rumor has it that this was all Bernie Eccelstone’s doing, because maybe there’s only so much room for such things amongst the stars of his F1 travelling circus. It all seems a bit of a contrast to this day though, as I’m at an up-until-now secret test of the new 2014 spec Audi R18 e-tron quattro. Audi Sport Has Been Testing 2014 LMP Entry

Audi Sport boss Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich made news this week in comments to AutoSport Magazine when he confirmed the team had already track tested its 2014 LMP entry on at least two occasions. The first time is believed to have taken place at the end of September and the second time more recently.
